I don‘t know.

A statement has been made by Johan Soe on facebook:

I'm very thankful for all your supportive comments that I've read regarding the hard work and performance, that I've been putting in to show my talent on the PWA. As you have all read, I was ranking first for the title, but due to one of my sails, which the PWA judges decided that was not fitting the specs by some millimeters, I've been disqualified from the event in Japan. I need to stress that I never used this sail during the event in Japan. Unfortunately, as I did not do the full tour, I had no discards to keep the first place, and was disqualified for having exactly that sail.

This year, I was not expecting to be able to rank first on the tour, as I could not do all the events. I was busy with finishing school and had no time to train in the summer, as I had to sit for exams the days after important events, or just before. I had to skip the PWA in Gran Canaria due to the same reason. With one event less, half time not training, I was still super stoked to have a better level of a couple riders who had tried the same for over 10-15-20 years.

Generally, we riders are all working hard to bring our equipment to the max of its performance. I worked double harder than the others as I had a limited time, and I'm sure that this has been seen because being only 20, I was there fighting with the best, or better, being in front of them. When you are busy in so many details, working with a team for such important goals, the variables and details are a lot. Even if I appreciate the work done from the PWA in making sure that the rules are being followed, I'm not sure that the decision taken towards myself was correct, as I never used the sail in Japan.

Next year no room for other excuses.

    POINT-7

    5 Std.  ·

We worked hard with @johansoe37 and with a full team, to bring him at the first place of the PWA title tour. We managed this by working specifically on each aspect of the sail, to mature the full potential of our product, for the benefit of our riders and clients alike. Unfortunately, we have been disqualified due to one sail size which was not perfectly into specs and practically not even being used in Japan. Johan could have been the second youngest sailor to be World Champion, but this will be postponed for one year. In racing riders are tuning modifying foils, working on custom masts, battens, boards, and it is a fact that when you are on the top, especially with a young talent like Johan, all attentions from judges and other envy competitors are fairly on him to check all his details, as he has shown to be unstoppable. Johan had managed to be first in the ranking without doing all the events as he had to finish school, so either way it went, he did an amazing job. We will still proudly reward Johan as being the biggest talent in racing, for the hard work done. We will make sure he will be up there again next season with no mercy, and we are happy to have proven the outstanding performance of our F1sl. #24ready #born07

<=praktikally not used: wurde in letzter Elimination benutzt, die abgebrochen worden ist. (vorläufiger Kenntnistand aus 3 Foren und Facebook - also = Gerüchte)

ja.

Official Statement Regarding Johan Søe’s Disqualification

Following equipment inspection of the top riders at the PWA Slalom Finals in Japan, Danish sailor Johan Soe, DEN-37, was unfortunately found to have been using a sail that had been modified from its original factory specification and that did not meet the registered specification for the sail, including allowances for all measurement tolerances.

As such, under the rules regarding production equipment on the PWA Slalom World Tour, the protest committee had no choice but to disqualify Johan from the final event in Japan.

Whilst we sympathise with Johan to have lost the World Title under such circumstances, the rules are clear and the facts surrounding the modification of the sails, and the discrepancy between the registered specifications of the sails, and the sails Johan was using, are not in question.

The PWA takes the rules surrounding production equipment seriously and respects the efforts of the vast majority of brands and riders to adhere to the rules and compete fairly. As such, to ignore the use of equipment that had been physically modified and that did not meet the registered specification would have been unacceptable with respect to the fundamental principles of the rules.

Serienboard in Sandwichtechnik halt :)
