We did it! ❤️🏆 We just got the official distance confirmed by @gps_speedsurfing : 761.82 km in 24 hours, enough to claim the world record.
And with a total of 475 gybes 🤯 Only 1 wet one ![]()
Oh boy, 24 hours is a long time and so many things can happen it that time frame. Sailing in the night, lightning all around, big rain showers and no wind for 3 hours…. I lost all hope for the record. But sports ain’t sports if a big low gets followed up by a big high. The wind came back just in time 💨
From almost falling asleep while windsurfing with 5 hours to go, to @thijs_107 coming out to caddy me and pushing me through the last hours.
I fought with everything I had until the last second, wanting to show what I was capable off with some proper winds in my sail.
Big thank you to my team on and off the water, you guys are amazing.
The record is secondary for me. Being able to do sports is a real privilege, things like these remind you of that. We once again raised awareness for 20.000 kids with muscular diseases.
And even better: almost 37 thousand euros is raised for @spierenvoorspieren and still counting. Thank you guys ❤️
